Thanksgiving Message 🍁

 

Hello Whispering Pines, it is a beautiful Thanksgiving ðŸ Morning, and I hope your day is an incredible one.

 

Our Family loves this special time of year, gathering with friends and family coming together giving love, gratitude and thankfulness for all that we have, to God.

 

Meaning of Thanking

 

Thanksgiving originated in the early European settlements in North America, specifically in the Pilgrims' celebration in 1621 after a successful harvest. The word “thanksgiving” comes from the Old English “þanc” (thank) and “giefan” (give), meaning “to give thanks” or “to express gratitude”.

 

Historical and Spiritual Roots in the United States, Thanksgiving is rooted in Christian tradition, particularly in the Puritan and Pilgrim communities. It was initially a day of prayer and thanksgiving to God for the blessings of the harvest and the preceding year. President Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday in 1863, during the Civil War, as a day to “heal the wounds of the nation” and express gratitude to God.

 

Biblical Meaning According to the Bible, thanksgiving is an act of worship and devotion to God (Psalm 100:4-5, 1 Chronicles 16:34). It involves confessing God's goodness, praising Him, and offering sacrifices or offerings (Psalm 107:8-9, Leviticus 7:12). In the biblical sense, Thanksgiving is not just a celebration of human blessings but also a recognition of God's sovereignty and provision.

2024 RV Amendment Vote

Hello Beautiful Whispering Pines

 

 

We hope you are doing outstanding during this fall season. 🍂

 

The Board has received a large amount of feedback from Whispering Pines Owners, desiring for a compromise, in allowing for some RV use on their properties. And, the Board has unanimously agreed there should be some sort of allowance. Therefore, we are proposing the following amendment for vote.

 

With this amended clause, it is anticipated it will have an impact on a positive level, giving value in the following areas:

 

  1. Creating a utilizable and friendly environment for families to spend time together, enjoying their property while planning stages of their building process.

  2. Owners, by being on their property, to be inspired and to visualize their mountain cabin, and set goals for building. Additionally, allowing opportunity to evaluate the surroundings of their property, to determine positional placement of their cabins, where the sun comes up, sets, etc.

  3. Perspective buyers will be more likely to purchase property for sale, as they will have the ability to use their property with the use of an RV on a limited basis. Hence, properties will be more desirable and thus sellable.

 

On August 22, 2024, the Board voted for the proposed clause to be amended under Article III, Construction & Dwelling, Section J, to be submitted to the Association for vote, allowing for limited use of RV’s to be used on properties.

Proposed Amendment:

 

A R T I C LE I I I

CONSTRUCTION AND DWELLING

CURRENT:

J.         RV & Camp Use During Construction: Notwithstanding natural disasters, civil unrest or war —No tent, house trailer, motorhome, camper or vehicle is at any time permitted to be used as a residence, except for the duration of a valid building permit issued for the constructing of a Cabin, and as long as reasonable progress is being made, and except as otherwise permitted in this Declaration. The construction of a Cabin Home may begin at the time a building permit is received.

 

AMENDED:

 

J.         RV & Camp Use During or Before Construction: Notwithstanding natural disasters, civil unrest or war —No house trailer, motorhome, or camper is at any time permitted to be used as a residence, except for the duration of a valid building permit issued for the constructing of a Cabin, and as long as reasonable progress is being made, and except as otherwise permitted in this Declaration. The construction of a Cabin Home may begin at the time a building permit is received.

Exception: Owners ARE permitted to use an RV for the opportunity to ascertain their land’s surroundings for consideration of building their Cabin, for its layout purposes, and/or for temporary recreation use of having an RV on their land. Owners may use an RV on their property ONLY after filing with the Board for a permit, giving permission. Permits must be requested 14-days before the desired dates of use. The permit will include the precise dates they intend to have an RV (ONE RV ONLY) on the property, not to exceed 3 separate excursions and not to exceed a total of 14 days per calendar year. Permits will only be issued for the Owner and/or immediate family’s use, and not for any guests or proxies. RV’s will not be older than 15-years of age. The Owner understands and agrees that Whispering Pines is NOT an RV Resort Park and may not be used for such, as well as there being no permanent hookups.

When making improvements to property, tents are allowed without a permit as long as they are concealed and not readily visible from the road, nor placed along the road. Fires are permitted during the use of RV and/or tents, as long as they are in accordance with Whispering Pines Covenants, ARTICLE IV, C. Fires Outdoors.

Happy 4th of July

Wishing you a wonderful, safe and happy 4th of July!

On this special holiday, the United States commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. This historic event marked the formal declaration of the 13 American colonies' independence from Great Britain and the establishment of the United States.

Independence Day is a celebration of the fundamental principles of freedom, democracy, and self-governance. It honors the courage and determination of the American patriots who fought for their rights and the sacrifices they made to achieve independence. The day is also a reminder of the ongoing struggle for freedom and democracy around the world — And which, allows you and I to enjoy our homes and land in Whispering Pines.

Independence Day is not just a celebration of the past but also a reminder of the importance of preserving and protecting the freedoms and values that the United States was founded upon. It is a day to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who fought for independence and to recommit to the principles of liberty, equality, and justice — So long as it is governed by righteous leaders.

I would like to give positive recognition and deep appreciation to our Treasurer and Board Member, Tia Astle! Tia has done an outstanding job with taking charge, bringing organization and structure to the Whispering Pines accounts receivables, from setting up the online merchant account, to serving and working with owners. Tia has also served by bringing a valuable ear, as well as being a voice for the betterment of Whispering Pines.

Flagpole Height Correction

Whispering Pines, there was an oversight regarding the flagpole height, and a correction was made to Article 7B, Flagpole height, changing it from 20’ to 25’, which is now reflected in the document.

Again, for those of you who have already voted, should the few minor revisions affect your vote, you are able to change your vote, should you wish. Simply login to your Whispering Pines account, go into, “Surveys/Voting”, click on “See Response”, where you may switch your vote either way, if desired. Remember, the deadline for voting closes on February 2, 2024.

Thank you for those you who attended our Annual 2024 Meeting last night, it was great to see and interact with so many of you!

Per some of the recommendations received during the meeting on the new Covenants, please review the revised uploaded CC&R, which is now in your Documents folder, under Governing Documents. Here you will see the suggested recommendations pertaining to: Article 2C, Annual Assessments. Article 2D, Special Assessment. Article 3I, Fencing. Article 3K, Signage addition. Article 7B, Flagpole height.

Remember, the closing date for the CC&R vote is on February 2, 2024. Additionally, an email will be sent out within the next few days with a link for voting in the New Board Member names, so be sure to be on the lookout for it!
